In Spite of the Rain – Aliquippa Arts Festival

An Imperfect Start to a to a Perfect Festival

The day began less than perfect for an outdoor Arts Festival.  It was raining, blowing and quite chilly.  Musical artists and their crews were frustrated and a bit upset.  Vendors were frustrated; because they were sure no one would come.  And the staff, well the staff was frantic trying to make this less than perfect situation into something bearable.

But, as morning turned into afternoon, we began to see things calm down a bit.  People started to come out and everyone began to settle in to what turned out to be a lovely afternoon and a wonderful evening.

Let’s talk about the entertainment.  We heard from

  • Light of Judah
  • Mt. Olive Youth Choir
  • Casanova
  • UNDALARDS
  • Christian Lighthouse
  • Flow Band
  • Smooth Groove

and  Janine Gilbert.

Before the featured singer and her ensemble took the stage they were treated to a marvelous dinner catered by Mickey Johnson in the newly renovated Professional Outfitters Too location.

Were you there to enjoy the delicious food from the vendors?  Well if you weren’t you certainly missed some great eats!  Here are the results of the Rib Cookoff:

1st Place – Stephanie Peake, Big Steph’s Soul Food
2nd Place – Debbie Moreland, Deb’s Ribs
3rd Place – Delores Jones, Delo’s Kitchen
