From June 24 – August 2nd, the Franklin Center will offer MedAdventures, our pre-med summer camp program. The purpose of this summer program is to expose students to various medical careers and environments in the safety of a simulated environment. The programs goals are as follows: to give students practical exposure to various medical careers and environments; to provide students with a state-of-the-art learning experience; and to connect core academic skills in math, science, and communication with a real world experience in medicine.
The programs objectives are as follows: all program participants will receive First Aid/CPR/AED training; master basic medical tasks such as administering a shot, taking blood pressure, using a defibrillator, basic would care, etc.; and increase their knowledge of basic medical terms and concepts by 10%.
Program fees are $100 for the entire program, and can be paid up front or in four installments of $25 weekly. Program fees are not due unless your child is selected to participate in the program. No stipends are offered for this program, although lunch will be provided. Students must have their own transportation to and from the program daily, although transportation to all camp activities is provided.
This program includes the observation of actual medical procedures, dissection of animals, and discussions of anatomy and physiology.
Camp Hours: M-F 9:30-3:30
