Among The Legends: An Evening with the Icons of Black History

The Franklin Center of Beaver County will culminate its 2017 Black History Month programming with a celebration on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Fez in Hopewell Township.  The event, Among The Legends: An Evening With the Icons of Black History, will feature the surprise recognition of two local African American icons and the introduction of Dr. Roger Davis, Executive Vice President and Provost of the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC).

Other highlights for the evening include a musical performance by award-winning artist and Beaver County Music Hall of Fame inductee Janine Gilbert-Carter, portrayals of iconic figures in African American history, traditional African American cuisine, and a basket auction. Beaver County Music Hall of Fame inductee Betty Douglas will emcee the event.  The celebration begins at 5p.m.  Dinner service is at 5:30.

Tickets are $20.00 and may be purchased online by visiting the Franklin Center website and using the “donate” button; at the Franklin Center of Beaver County located at 524 Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa; and at Hairholics located at 439 Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa.  All tickets for the event must be purchased in advance.  For more information, call the Franklin Center at (724) 378-2882.
